Notes

6/10/10 – Portraits of Christ: Walking With God

Posted by

This week we’re looking at what it was like for the disciples to get to know God from the extraordinary context of an on-going relationship in which they were with Him when they woke up and when they went to bed at night, when they had questions and when they were totally in awe.

6/3/10 – Portraits of Christ: The Approachable God

Posted by

This week we’re considering the invitation in Jesus’ eyes that drew ordinary men and women into extraordinary encounters with the glory of God.

(Primary scriptures: Luke 9:27-26;10:38-39)

5/27/10 – Portraits of Christ: Touched By God

Posted by

Continuing our look at Jesus, we move on now to His ministry. We are looking this week at the remarkable way in which God chose to interact with men, and what it says about His heart toward His creation.

(Primary scriptures: Matthew 8:1-4; Luke 4:40-41)

5/20/10 – Portraits of Christ: A Child Is Born

Posted by

Continuing in a series on the person of Christ, we are looking this week at His birth. The life of Jesus is significant, not only for what He did, but for who He was. Considering the manner in which He came to us draws our attention to the Man and who He was: God with us.

(Primary scriptures: Luke 2:8-14; Matthew 1:22-23)

5/13/10 – Portraits of Christ: In the beginning…

Posted by

We are starting a new series focused on the person of Christ – the goal being not to define His attributes or His work, but to encounter His heart and His person as we meditate on passages from the gospels.

This first week we’re looking at the eternally pre-existent Christ and what God was like “in the beginning.”

(Primary scriptures: John 1:1-5, Proverbs 8:30-31, Genesis 1, Psalm 45)

4/29/10 – The Christ-Centered Heart

Posted by
In the Person of Christ, God breaks through the barrier between the things seen and the things unseen. He is at once the Unseen God – Maker of Heaven and Earth, the historic figure Jesus of Nazareth whose real interactions with dust and humanity we can behold, and the Spirit of the Living God who now dwells in us. In beholding Jesus as He went about life in Judea 2000 years ago, we behold eternal truths about the heart of Our Creator, and we come to know the Holy One who is here now going about life in us.
(Primary scriptures: Psalm 27:4, John 17:26)

4/15/10 – Christ-Centered Christianity

Posted by
The story of redemption, both it’s beginning and it’s end points to the fact that our existence is all about one thing – the Man Christ Jesus. At this chapter of history, just like every other, the Person of Christ is to be our primary pursuit – the knowledge of Him through Scripture and fellowship with Him by the indwelling Spirit.
(Primary scriptures: Colossians 1, John 1)
