Week 7 of the Wednesday night messages on our current Isaiah 56 focus is on what that promise means related to the mission of the Church and what it is that drives us to reach out to the world around us.
Isaiah 56 Focus – Week 7 – Friends of the Bridegroom (65min, 18.6MB)
Week seven the focus is on the mission and ministry of God’s house. Again, there is some background thoughts and verses, and then passages to meditate on. Return to these as often as you like (our suggestion is every day during this period!), dialog with the Lord about what they mean to Him, use the questions at the bottom as fuel, and then pray it: God if that’s what’s in your heart than do … in me, and do … in my city and in the nations of the earth!
Week 7: The Mission of God’s House – Friends of the Bridegroom
PDF Handout – Week 7 – Friends of the Bridegroom
Background Verses: The prophecy of Isaiah 56 is explicitly missional in its focus. It’s assumed that everyone knows God’s house is a house of prayer from all God has already done and said. The thrust of the prophecy is: a house of prayer for all. God wants all who will say yes to covenant with God, to being His and living for His pleasure, to be drawn into His house. (more…)
Week 6 of the Wednesday night messages on our current Isaiah 56 focus is on what that promise means related to the cry of the Church and our deep longing and desire for Jesus to come and establish His kingdom in the earth.
Isaiah 56 Focus – Week 6 – Kingdom Come (56min, 16.1MB)
Week six the focus is on the cry that fills the prayers of God’s house.
Week 6: The Cry of God’s House – Kingdom Come
PDF Handout – Week 6 – Kingdom Come
Background Verses: There is a cry associated with the call to be “a house of prayer” that you simply won’t find anywhere else. Everybody prays – in the sense that we cry out for help in our time of need – some to a God we know and some to a god they don’t know and aren’t even sure exists. When Jesus teaches His followers how to pray, though, there’s a different cry, birthed from knowing and hearing our Father in heaven and praying from heaven to earth for His plans to be fulfilled, that is first and primary before our own physical, spiritual and even ministerial needs. Week 5 of the Wednesday night messages on our current Isaiah 56 focus is on what that promise means related to the perspective of the Church and how we see life because of our confidence as a cherished bride.
Isaiah 56 Focus – Week 5 – The Bridal Paradigm (68min, 19.5MB)
Week five the focus is on the perspective God’s house sees the world through.
Week 5: The Perspective of God’s House – The Bridal Paradigm
PDF Handout – Week 5 – The Bridal Paradigm
Background Verses: One of the markers of God’s house that will increasingly set her apart from the rest of the world is a radically different view of life. As the world around us becomes increasingly driven by anxiety and need, and hardened by cynicism and disappointment, God’s church will stand in stark contrast filled with joy and peace, and overflowing with beauty and hope. Part 5 in a series on Foundations for Intercession.
As we finish this series on intercession, we’re looking at what it means to live in the authority that God has given us, again in the context of relationship. Our authority doesn’t come from who we are, but from who we are to Him. It’s not a legal arrangement that grants us authority but rather the way that God’s heart is moved over us and His delight in displaying His love toward us by backing the desires of our hearts when they’re in agreement with His.
Understanding authority gives us more than just confidence to pray bold prayers, it shapes our whole life into one lived expecting our Father to have our back. It reshapes our priorities when we truly believe that our created purpose and our way forward in all that God has put in our hearts, is to move the heart the God.
Foundations for Intercession – pt5 – Friendship: Authority (22.3MB 72min+ministry time)
Part 7 in the series: Gospel Identity: Belonging to God
As we continue to look at what “intimacy with God” really means through the revelation of the Bride of Christ, this third part looks at the heart of love and how Jesus cherishes and nourishes His bride as though she were His own body – one with Him, and how He calls us to do the same.
As we begin to see that Jesus sees and cares for our feelings, our struggles, our cares and our desires, it frees us to live focused on His feelings, His burdens, His dreams and His desires. God longs to have that kind of deep, intimate friendship with us. He wants to share with us the deep things of His heart, knowing we will cherish them and steward them in love.
Burning Hearts Gathering – 5/23/12 – Defining Bridal Intimacy: Cherishing (17.2MB 60min)
Part 6 in the series: Gospel Identity: Belonging to God
As we continue to look at our identity as the Bride of Christ, and what it tells us about what love looks like and what “intimacy with God” really means, this message looks at the central element of true intimacy: knowing God and being known by God.
Our hearts have a deep desire not just to be appreciated or treated well or felt warmly about, but to be truly known and understood for who we are and how our heart works. We feel that way because God feels that way – He’s looking for that kind of love and He wants to give us that kind of love. And that changes our approach to the Scriptures, to prayer, and to life.
